An Honest Tip To Quit Smoking
I’ve been doing a lot of research on this subject as of late. As you know I’m making the attempt myself. Every article that I read is trying to sell me something. When the article that I am reading is trying to sell me something I don’t believe them.
Well, I’m going to give you my tips straight from the hip and yes, I am going to try to sell you something in the process, but my intentions are good. I’m just hoping that in the process you’ll click on my product link to amazon so I can make a quick commission off the sell. It costs a lot of money to go to Thailand and you can’t blame me for trying to pick up some change here and there.
Now this is a real tip, from the heart, about quitting smoking. This is my third attempt at quitting smoking in about 20 years. the first time it took for a good 13 years. The second time it took for 5 months. What sent me into relapse each time was a life changing experience… Once your a cigarette junkie or chew junkie, your a junkie for life. Remember this.. people don’t talk to much about it. Each time I went off the wagon, I knew in the back of my head I would quit again, but in that moment, I really didn’t give a shit. I needed a coping mechanism to deal with the stress and cigarettes is what I chose. I’m not going to touch on trying to deal with life changing events and keep yourself from smoking. Life changing events are usually pretty dramatic, so if you want to smoke…. go for it. You can quit again later…. So when you are ready….
- You have to be ready to quit. What I mean by being ready is that you have to want to quit and you need to be emotionally ready. Nicotine is a drug. It is considered by some professionals to be more addictive than heroin. All you need to do is look at the success rate. It’s easier to kick heroin than it is to kick cigarettes. If you are not emotionally ready, it won’t work. You have to pick a time in your life where you are at one with yourself and everything is good in your life. Now if your “not ready” don’t bother reading the rest. Come back another time when you are ready. Because if your not ready, nothing will work.
- Going Cold Turkey. I couldn’t do it. I don’t have the fortitude. But if you do, then go for it. Just remember it can be really tough and the success rate ain’t so good. Why make it harder on your self than it needs to be.
- Patches. In my opinion this is the way to go. It weans you off the actual drug, giving you the opportunity to work on the mental portion of the addiction. We all get into certain habits when we smoke, like having a cigarette after a good meal. When you use a patch you have more of an opportunity to retrain your brain, changing all of those habits that you have become accustomed to while you smoke. Patches are expensive, but they are still cheaper than the cigarettes.
- Pills (Zyban, Chantix or Wellebutrin) I have had no personal experiences with Zyban, Chantix or Wellbutrin, but the information out there leads me to believe that they do work. But they are not miracle quit smoking pills, they’re aids, just like patches. So again, if your not ready they will not.
- No Miracle Cure - This is a good time to throw this out. There is no such thing as quick and easy way, other than death, to quit smoking. So stop looking and wasting your money.
- Electronic Cigarettes – Give me a freaking break. I refuse to discuss it. But I’ll sell it to you if you want it. Yes it helps you cut down on the nicotine but it doesn’t help you break the mental habits. You have to break both to be successful.
- Hypnosis - I forgot all about this. I actually did this when I was about 20. It worked for me up until my first minor stressor. First Day of the Semester. Then it all went right out the window. I would say that it would not be such a bad idea to use hypnosis along with another aid. It has the potential to be a whining combination.
- Nicotine Gum – Yea.. well I’m not too hip on this either. Your replacing one habit for another. Will it, in the end, work?? Sure. But before you know it you’ll be sitting on the back of a bus cracking your gum..
Well there you have it. My tips, straight from the hip. Real and honest, from someone who has been down this road before. What it comes down to is, “If you really want to quit smoking, You have to want to” If in your heart, you dont want to, it wont work… Good Luck!!

You’re absolutely right! Addressing the chemical addiction (with pills, patches, gum, nasal spray or even e-cigs) is only PART of the solution. People need to figure out the behavioral & social triggers that remind them of smoking as well as the emotional urges to smoke.
The podcast and article available (free of cost or obligation) at http://bit.ly/e6axO will show you how to thoroughly understand WHY you smoke.
I’m really proud of you for trying to quit! Keep up the good work!
peace,

Congratulations on quitting,
I gave up last week after smoking for over 25 years.
Cold Turkey!
I’ve tried patches before, gum, cold turkey, never zyban (hate these type of drugs in my system),
and always started again, had alot of stress and anxiety in the first stages. It always seemed to come in three’s
First 3 days hell, then three weeks withdrawal stress, then again at 3 months at which point i’d give in.
The only time i had no withdrawals at all was last year when i gave up during a big cleansing retreat in fiji. Colonics everyday, supported with super food drinks, good oils, mental work, and massive focus, it was easy once i decided to stop. I fell off the ‘wagon’ when i thought after 3 months “to heck with it, i can have a smoke tonight, its my life, and you only live once, whats the big deal.” well the big deal is yes you only live once, but how will you live? In good health or bad?
Anyway, back to NOW!
I got my head in the right place, I have read in the past Alan Carrs book “Easy Way to stop smoking” and still have ingrained those lessons, and the biggest thing (aside from the mental agility) is supporting my system with Super Green Rich Supplements (the best I could find) and a super awesome antioxidant drink. I feel absolutely amazing. I don’t get cravings, just a little light headed every now and then but no big deal, i just drink some water and have a healthy snack.
I’ve also done quite a bit of personal development courses over the past few years with people like anthony robbins, Joseph McCelendon III, and others. So i have learnt a lot about how to manage my states and focus. THis has helped in a lot of areas in my life.
I believe it is mostly the supplement support that I’m using that’s giving me the greatest benefit and recommend this to everyone. Especially as giving up smoking is really about getting healthy, and the ’system’ (if you can call it that) I’m using is really supporting my overall health.
I cant explain just how amazing i feel.
But whatever method works for you is great, we’re all different as there’s probably no right way to Quit smoking just as long as you succeed.
